LOCKDOWN MADNESS!
Now is the PERFECT time to start teaching your dog to be alone – when he’s NOT alone! Sounds crazy right? But here’s why…..
Think about this……… if your dog ‘needs’ you (see examples below) when you are IN the room, imagine how he feels when you are not!?
Separation anxiety is psychological turmoil for dogs. Being apart from you is torture and for some dogs, it can manifest as barking and howling, destructive behaviour, not eating, or attempts to escape.
You may not even be aware that your dog has this condition. But during lockdown, when dogs that haven’t shown any signs of Separation Anxiety before, can start to exhibit this after lockdown, because they have had constant company for a number of weeks, not only with one person in the house, but the whole family!
Suddenly, when the household returns to normality, back to work, back to school, the house can be a very big and quiet, lonely place.
